Taiba Hospital emphasizes the private sector’s role in developing and updating medical services in Kuwait     Dr. Sanad Al Fadala: “We are in the process of expanding to include more departments, the first of which is the Orthopedic Department.” The Chairman and Executive Director of Taiba Hospital, Dr. Sanad Al Fadala, highlighted the influential role the private sector plays in developing the health services in Kuwait, especially with regards to keeping up with the technological and scientific developments around the world.    Dr. Al Fadala said that the Taiba is in the process of adding more departments and specializations, the first being the Orthopedic Department. He also mentioned that the Pediatrics Surgery Department was recently upgraded as part of the plan to strategically advance performance levels, through the addition of more services for both citizens and expatriates.   These announcements were made during the medical conference, which Taiba Hospital organized on the occasion of the birth of the 1000th baby at the Hospital. A large number of doctors attended the conference, which was sponsored by Merck Serono, and participated in numerous medical lectures and activities.          Dr. Sanad Al Fadala also mentioned that the Hospital’s administration has always aimed to care for its employees and create a team spirit among its staff ever since its beginnings as a day-case surgery center. This has reflected in the employees’ exceptional performance and thus has advanced Taiba’s medical status to the extent that it includes all the departments thatmake it the first choice for numerous patients.   Moreover, Dr. Mohammed Salah Al Ashnehi, the Head and Consultant of the OB/GYN Department, gave a speech, which highlighted the Department’s achievements within the past year.   He also emphasized that the major achievement is not only embodied in the birth of 1000 babies in a period of one year, but also in the decrease in mother and child death rate to zero. Moreover, he expected an increase in birth cases at Taiba reaching to around 2000 by mid-2008. He also added that the average birth cases range from 120 to 130 each month.   Finally, he praised the OB/GYN Department and its highly skilled specialists and state-of-the-art equipment that have made this achievement and others possible.
